Our client seeks a Power Engineer to join their team.
 
Role Profile:
The Power Engineer is responsible for the installation, control, operation and maintenance of ac & dc low voltage power systems including generation and UPS systems, environmental systems, building engineering services (BES), security and fire alarm systems
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and schedule vendor repair of UPS, HVAC, motors, controls, plumbing, back-up generator systems and similar equipment
  • Repair and maintenance of all aspects of physical plant, with a focus on electrical systems
  • Corrective and preventive maintenance including performing non-scheduled or emergency maintenance when required to support continuous operations
  • Analyse and solve electrical and mechanical problems which cause interruptions or otherwise limit productive capacity of all data centre equipment
  • On call working to provide emergency cover out of hours
 
Key Skills and Experience:
Essential:
  • A minimum of 3 years' relevant experience on complex electrical systems
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE's or equiv. - Grade A-C
  • Industry Recognised Electrical Technical Diploma Qualifications, L3 NVQ & AM2
  • City & Guilds 2382-22 Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018
  • A strong sense of ownership and responsibility
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills; must be organized
  • Strong verbal & good written communication skills
  • A healthy respect for utilities, tools and power systems and the safety required when working with them. Must be familiar with and strictly adhere to safety guidelines, Standards and Regulations
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with electrical systems, controls, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and work from technical documents, blueprints, single-lines, and electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office and basic computer skills
Desirable:
  • City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations
  • City & Guilds 2396 Design and Verification of Electrical Installations
  • Working within a Data Centre or other high availability environment
  • Understanding of UPS and power generation
  • Experience with maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical equipment
  • Experience working as an LV Authorised Person
