Our client seeks a Risk Analyst to join their team.
 
Role: The role is responsible for developing and delivering 2nd line risk reporting for the company, embedding a consistent approach to risk reporting across the whole organisation. The role also performs ongoing analysis of the accuracy, consistency, relevance and integrity of data used to populate second line reports and supports the delivery of data enhancements / improvements.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the Risk function's reporting and governance calendar / timetable
  • Collate and review data on risks, risk events, monitoring of performance against risk appetite, regulatory developments, compliance monitoring and financial crime in order to provide insightful commentary to Boards and Committees
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting as required to the Risk function
  • Support the Risk Specialists' reporting process through timely provision of risk data
  • Perform ongoing analysis of risk data to assure its completeness, relevance and integrity and identify and support initiatives to extend / enhance risk data and further integrate risk data into wider management information within the company
  • Oversee 1st line risk and event capture, escalation and reporting across the company, in line with the risk framework
  • Oversee and advise on risk and control assessments (RCSAs) by developing an understanding of the control environment and supporting the 1st line in identifying, quantifying, escalating and managing risks
  • Review RCSAs completed by the company and act as an SME for any queries relating to their maintenance
  • Oversee and assess RCSAs and risk events with a view to providing feedback and assistance in improving the quality of data captured
  • Support operational risk control testing
  • Support work undertaken within the Risk Function in line with the Operational Risk Standards, e.g. Root Cause Analysis
  • Undertake risk assurance activity in line with the agreed plan
  • Develop and maintain a suite of indicators that can be used to monitor and report upon risk
  • Provide proactive challenge to the 1st line on current and future initiatives, influencing the final outcome to optimise the balance between risk and reward
  • Establish, foster and maintain good relationships with centralised functions to delivery effective 2nd line risk reporting
 
Key Skills & Experience:
  • A graduate with numerate or business related degree is preferable but not essential
  • As this is a secondment role, experience of working in a similar environment is not essential, however, the ideal candidate must have an interest in learning more about:
    • Risk and governance processes
    • Delivering reporting / management information
    • Delivering assurance activities
    • The company's Risk Management system
    • The company's financial products, industry requirements/legislation
    • The ideal candidate must have strong analytical skills and be able to plan and organise themselves independently
    • Ability to use best practice and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products or services in own discipline
    • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interpret customer needs
    • Effective teamwork and communication skills
