Our client seeks a Risk Officer to join their team.  
 
Role Profile:  The Risk Officer will work as a member of the Risk team, supporting the Banking management team. They will primarily be responsible for the timely and accurate completion of periodic and trigger risk reviews together with other banking risk activities. The Risk Officer will ensure that client service excellence is delivered to both internal and external clients by following the policies and procedures of the bank.
 
Role:  The Risk team is responsible for the bank's Anti-Money Laundering Legislation and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) and other risk-related activities. The team will maintain high-quality, flexible and accurate service to customers, both internal and external, whilst ensuring that the company continues to meet its regulatory obligations and that the  Bank's reputation is positively maintained.  Embracing new technology and ideas, an efficient and accurate approach to required duties is expected.  
 
The Risk Officer is responsible for undertaking a variety of risk-related tasks, which may be performed on a rotational basis.
 
Responsibilities:
  • As part of the Risk team the Risk Officers need to ensure timely and accurate delivery of risk-related banking services relevant to the employee's advised posting within the Banking sub teams.
  • Directly dealing with external/internal banking clients, ensuring delivery of a quality and responsive service in respect of all their risk-related banking requirements.
  • Customer focused approach to deliver timely and accurate trigger and periodic risk reviews whilst maintaining internal and AML/CFT regulatory standards.
  • Contacting clients requesting Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) for tigger and periodic reviews and updating of related core banking systems.
  • Plan and co-ordinate own work to ensure tasks and turnaround times are met, escalating to the Risk Manager when appropriate with recommendations.
  • Support the implementation of any new system/technology advances, revised working practices and procedures to improve the effectiveness/efficiency of the team and deliver an improved service to clients.
  • Provide wider support within the Banking Team as required from time to time.
 
Key Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum GCSE or equivalent standard with passes in Mathematics and English Language preferred.
  • A good working knowledge of banking systems and procedures.
  • A practical understanding of banking risk and AML/CFT procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and customer service ethos.
  • Experience in using standard Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook and risk-specific software.
  • Experience in banking/financial services is essential.
  • Work efficiently within a team and co-operate with other team members to meet shared deadlines and objectives.
  • Demonstrate an organised approach, ensuring that reviews are completed accurately and prioritised around deadlines, following bank procedures.
  • Possess effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in order to cope with the ever-changing demands of the role.
  • Apply good attention to detail. Be enthusiastic, hardworking and open to change.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a positive client experience. Be proactive and able to use initiative. Demonstrate an ability to collaborate and work with relationship managers and other departments to resolve issues effectively.
  • Make capable and effective decisions and escalate problems when necessary.
