Senior Network Engineer

• Management and maintenance of the group network infrastructure.
• Achieve and maintain availability and performance related SLAs on the group systems and services.
• Network Security - Track security advisories and manage all mitigation and corrective action to minimise exposure to security threats.
• Track Resource utilisation for input to capacity planning process.
• Technical development of the core network infrastructure.
• Maintain Network and System documentation to ISO standards.
• Actively and professionally support customers through the resolution of escalated support cases relating to network, voice, datacentre, and hosting incidents.
• Provide out of hours and on-call support for escalated incidents.
• Documentation/procedure writing.
• Provide technical pre-sales consultancy.
• Technical author detailed proposals, proof of concept diagrams and design documents to a high standard.

• Minimum 3 years working in network services with a carrier or service provider.
• Delivering complex technical solutions with budget and timescale pressures.
• Experience liaising with customers on technical solutions at a senior level.
• Appropriate professional level vendor accreditation such as Microsoft, Juniper, Fortigate, Cisco.
• Coordinate and manage relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.
• Able to plan and prioritise work effectively to ensure collaboration and teamwork.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, quick learner.
• Good communication skills, face to face by phone and e-mail.
• First class problem solving and analytical skills.

• Network and security infrastructure - Juniper, Fortigate, Cisco, Ubiquity
• Internet Routing architectures and protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, BFD).
• Switching and related technologies (VLANs, Security, Qos, CoS).
• Firewalls, UTM and related security technologies.
• Centralised Authentication Services - RADIUS.
• Load-balancers, caching and related application delivery technologies.
• Common Internet protocols (HTTP\\HTTPS\\FTP\\DNS\\SMTP\\POP3\\IMAP).
• Wireless technologies.
• Working within ISO 27001 system to maintain to Information Security.
• Working within ISO 9001 to ensure Quality Managment.
• Enterprise Monitoring Systems (SNMP, PRTG, Cacti, WANGuard).
