Systems Engineer
 
Role Profile:  Our client is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to assist both clients and internal users with their support needs. Working alongside the other members of the operations team you will provide immediate triage of service impacting issues, along with longer term platform support, maintenance and development tasks. Standout candidates will be excellent problem-solvers with outstanding communication and customer service skills.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to customer support requests and incidents  
  • Participate in planned works for installation, upgrades, patching  
  • Administration of customer and company infrastructure such as servers, switches, routers and firewalls  
  • Install and configure various IaaS, SaaS, PaaS platforms along with operating systems, software, physical hardware whilst documenting such elements such as design, maintenance, and support procedures
  • Participate in Managed Service activities, such as software patching, performance reporting and platform administration
  • Monitor various company and customer systems responding to issues as and when they arise  
  • Conduct high-level root-cause analysis of service interruptions and establish preventive measures
  • Create, maintain and update the ISO documentation library, along with contributing articles, corrections and suggestions to technical knowledge base/Wiki
  • Keep up to date on new technology trends
  • Participate in the on-call rota scheme
 
Key Skills and Experience:
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft platforms, both internal and cloud, specifically in relation to elements used within corporate environments.  
  • Working knowledge in areas such as Networking, Security, WAN technology, Virtualisation and 'As A Service' Cloud platforms.
  • Highly organised with an ability to operate autonomously under your own initiative.
  • Flexibility to work outside of core business hours as and when required.  
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work on your own or as part of a team.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant and appropriate training, including both company driven and personal development.
  • Participate in skill sharing workshops with colleagues to increase the teams overall technical knowledge.
Skills and Qualifications  
  • 5 Years' experience working as an Systems or similar technical support role
  • In addition to basic IT skills, you will be maintaining or working towards achieving IT related certifications.
  • Examples of appropriate qualifications include:
  • City & Guilds (E-Quals ICT Systems Support 7262) IT Practitioners Diploma Level 2 and Advanced Diploma Level 3
  • BTEC National Certificate/Diploma for IT Practitioners (ICT Systems Support) $2022; OCR (iPRO) Certificate for IT Practitioners (ICT Systems Support) at levels 2 and 3  
  • CompTIA i-Net+ Certification.
  • Linux+ CompTIA
  • Microsoft MCSE
Preference will be given to those holding or working towards the following Industry related certifications:
  • Microsoft MCSE: Core Infrastructure / Productivity
  • Cisco CCNA / CCNP  
  • Juniper JNCP
  • VMWare DCT / CMA / NV
  • Full Driving Licence
