Our client seeks a Trainee Database Administrator to join their team.
Role Profile:
The Trainee SQL DBA will be an important member of the Data Services team, responsible for managing the organization's SQL Server databases. This professional will work closely with the Senior DBA team and other technical teams to learn and develop their skills in database administration tasks such as installation, configuration, backup and recovery, and performance tuning. The Trainee DBA will also assist in ensuring that databases and data are secure and have adequate backup and retention mechanisms in place. As a member of the Data Services team, the Trainee DBA will have the opportunity to grow and develop their skills in a dynamic and challenging environment, while contributing to the overall reliability and accuracy of the business applications and systems. It is also expected for this professional to develop automation using programming languages like PowerShell and Python.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designs and implements SQL server instances and physical databases in line with business applications needs. Assesses proposed changes which impact data storage and usage requirements, ensuring database infrastructure is appropriately updated to accommodate changes without loss of performance or data integrity.
- Monitors database performance and activity and proactively identifies and investigates problems and issues. Recommends solutions and implements data base changes designed to address performance issues. Performs routine configuration, installation, and reconfiguration of database and related products. Automates regular database activity such as backups and test environment provision.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Completion or in progress of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Some exposure to SQL Server database administration, such as through academic projects, internships, or other relevant work experience.
- Basic understanding of database concepts and fundamentals.
- Demonstrate a positive motivated attitude.

- Database administration related knowledge (preferably with SQL Server technologies).
- Programming language knowledge.
