Our client seeks an Audit Director to join their team
Role Profile:
An experienced Director is sought to lead and grow the Financial Services Audit practice on the Isle of Man. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for strategic growth, client relationships, and delivery of high-quality audit services across a diverse FS client base.
Key Responsibilities
Practice Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and grow the FS Audit practice, shaping strategy and driving business development initiatives
- Take ownership of a portfolio of high-value clients across banking, insurance, funds, and other regulated FS sectors
- Contribute to the overall leadership of the Audit & Assurance service line
Client & Engagement Leadership
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to Boards, Audit Committees, and Senior Management
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of complex audit engagements
- Ensure all engagements are delivered in line with professional standards (ISA, IFRS, UK GAAP)
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor a high-performing audit team
- Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Support succession planning and talent development across the FS Audit team
Business Development & Growth
- Drive new business through networking, proposal preparation, and client pitches
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships
- Support fee negotiations, portfolio growth, and commercial decision-making
Quality, Risk & Governance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal audit quality standards
- Provide oversight and sign-off on complex audit work and key technical judgements
- Act as a role model for audit quality, independence, and ethical behaviour
Collaboration & Representation
- Work collaboratively across service lines including Advisory and Tax
- Represent the business at industry events and with key stakeholders in the Isle of Man market
Key Skills & Experience
Essential
- ACA, ACCA, CA (or equivalent professional qualification)
- Extensive Financial Services audit experience, ideally across funds, banking, insurance, or fiduciary services
- Strong technical expertise in IFRS, UK GAAP, and auditing standards
- Proven experience managing large client portfolios and complex audit engagements
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
- Strong commercial acumen and business development track record
Desirable
- Experience in a Big 4 or Top 10 professional services firm
- Exposure to international or cross-border audit engagements
- Established network within the Financial Services sector
