Our global client, a leading professional services firm with an established presence on the Isle of Man, is seeking an ambitious Audit Director to join its senior leadership team during an exciting period of growth and transformation. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the audit practice on the Island while working with a high-quality, diverse portfolio of clients across financial services, fiduciary, insurance, funds, and corporate sectors.
The Opportunity
As Audit Director, you will take a leading role in driving the strategic direction of the audit function, building on an already strong reputation in the local market. You will be instrumental in winning new business, developing existing client relationships, and mentoring the next generation of audit professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and overseeing a portfolio of complex audit engagements, ensuring delivery to the highest technical and quality standards
- Acting as the primary point of contact for senior client stakeholders, building trusted advisor relationships at Board and C-suite level
- Driving business development activity, including identifying new opportunities, leading pitches, and expanding the firm's footprint across the Isle of Man and further afield
- Providing technical leadership on IFRS, UK GAAP, and relevant regulatory frameworks, particularly in regulated sectors
- Coaching, developing, and mentoring senior managers, managers, and the wider audit team
- Contributing to the strategic direction of the practice and supporting the Partner on key firm-wide initiatives
- Ensuring robust risk management, audit quality, and compliance with regulatory and professional standards
- Representing the firm at industry events, networking forums, and within the local business community
About You
The successful candidate will ideally come from a Big 4 background or a comparable top-tier firm, with a proven track record of operating at Senior Manager or Director level within external audit. You will be a confident, commercially minded leader with the gravitas to engage credibly at the highest levels.
- ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification
- Significant post-qualified experience in external audit, with substantial exposure to financial services and/or regulated entities
- Demonstrable experience of business development, client wins, and growing a portfolio
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and ISAs; familiarity with Isle of Man / Crown Dependency regulatory environments would be advantageous
- Proven leadership and people development capability, with a genuine passion for coaching and mentoring
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Willingness to relocate to the Isle of Man (relocation support available) or already based on the Island
