Our client seeks a Business Solutions and Automation Developer to join their team.
Role Profile: You will support the delivery, enhancement and ongoing operation of a wide range of technical solutions that improve efficiency, data quality and decision-making across the business. The role is hands-on and varied, combining data work, automation, reporting and solution enablement. The role works closely with the Data and Automation Specialist on more advanced data platform and development activities, while also supporting the wider Business Solutions function with day-to-day solution maintenance, technical delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and enhance automation, data and reporting solutions using a mix of tools and technologies.
- Support the build and operation of data pipelines, integrations and automated processes, including those running on the Azure data platform.
- Develop and maintain solutions using Python, Excel, Power BI, JSON and other appropriate technologies.
- Design, build and maintain dashboards, reports and automated outputs for business users.
- Contribute to low-code and workflow solutions using tools such as Power Apps, Power Automate and related platforms.
- Assist with the practical implementation and use of AI-enabled tools and digital assistants.
- Take operational ownership of existing solutions, ensuring they remain accurate, well-maintained and fit for purpose.
- Support the Business Solutions team by assisting with configuration, enhancement and controlled changes to technical solutions.
- Carry out market research into new tools, platforms and technologies, assessing their suitability and potential business value.
- Help identify opportunities to improve processes through automation, better data usage or new technical approaches.
- Produce and maintain clear documentation for solutions, processes and controls.
- Work with business stakeholders and Business Solutions team members to understand requirements and translate them into practical, well-designed technical solutions.
- The objectives will be set and approved by the line manager, COO and MD.
- The job holder is responsible for prioritising and organising their own time and workload within agreed objectives, escalating issues and risks to the line manager as appropriate.
Key Sills and Experience:
- Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in technology, data, automation or a related discipline.
- Formal certifications are desirable but not essential.
- Practical experience using Excel for data analysis or automation.
- Experience developing reports or dashboards, ideally using Power BI.
- Some experience with automation or scripting, for example using Python, JSON or similar languages.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure and Azure Data Lake.
- Understanding of data processing, data quality and basic data modelling concepts.
- Experience working with low-code or workflow tools is desirable.
- Ability to research, evaluate and learn new technologies quickly.
- Comfortable supporting both technical and non-technical users.
- Able to balance structured project work with ad-hoc support tasks. Knowledge of software such as PowerBI, PowerAutomate, databases, Excel, SQL Server and SQL.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A good understanding of the requirements of General Data Protection Regulation
