Data Test Analyst

Our client seeks an experienced Data Test Analyst with strong SQL and data validation skills to join their growing data team for a 12-month contract.
This role offers the opportunity to work across data warehousing, reporting and analytics solutions, ensuring high-quality data is delivered to support business operations and strategic decision-making. You'll collaborate with both technical and business teams to identify issues, drive resolutions and continuously improve data testing practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute test plans focused on data quality, data migration, and system integrations.
- Validate data transformations between source and target systems.
- Develop and run SQL-based queries to reconcile and analyse data outputs.
- Identify, log and track data defects through to resolution, working with technology and business teams.
- Support testing for data warehouse, reporting platforms and analytics solutions.
- Contribute to test automation where appropriate, improving efficiency and repeatability.
- Ensure data testing is embedded in project delivery and change initiatives.
- Provide clear reporting on test progress, issues and risks to stakeholders.
- Support the definition and maintenance of data quality standards and controls.
- Work with business users to validate that outputs meet requirements and are fit for use.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Strong experience in data testing, data validation or QA within a data/analytics environment.
- Proficient in SQL and data interrogation techniques.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes and data pipelines.
- Experience working with structured and unstructured data sources.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and completeness.
- Ability to interpret business requirements and translate into test scenarios.
- Experience working in change or project environments, ideally within financial services.
- Awareness of data governance, data quality frameworks and controls.
- Relevant testing certification (e.g. ISTQB) - desirable.
