Our client seeks a Group Compliance Officer to join their team.  
   
Role Profile:  You will play a crucial role in ensuring that the business and its subsidiary companies understand and remain compliant with their respective legal and regulatory obligations and accountabilities on a continuing basis. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to provide consistent, ongoing support and guidance with specific focus on regulatory compliance aligned to internal Group Policies and Standards.   
 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Actively contribute to the day-to-day activities of the Compliance Team, in line with the overarching objectives of the Group Risk and Compliance Department.
  • Assist with and deliver a customer centric Compliance Assurance Programme by conducting regular and ad-hoc compliance assurance monitoring in accordance with the Group Compliance Assurance Monitoring Framework.
  • Analyse the results of compliance testing to identify and recommend areas for improvement in internal governance, risk management and internal control frameworks and provide reporting of the results.
  • Manage and assist the business in the identification, recording, investigation, and resolution of compliance related breaches.
  • Proactively promote and support a positive compliance culture across the Group and assist with the preparation and delivery of Compliance training to ensure all colleagues remain cognisant of and compliant with their respective regulatory obligations.
  • Assist in maintaining the Group Compliance Calendar and ensuring reporting and submissions are timely and effective
  • Scanning of key developments in the broader regulatory environment and support analysis and communication of consultation papers, thematic reviews and other external developments across IOM, Labuan, Japan, The Bahamas and Ireland.
  • Assist and support the Compliance Manager to maintain the Group Compliance Assurance Monitoring Framework, which guides and defines organisational behaviours, provides a clear context for customer centric business decision-making and positively influences the performance of functional and operational activities across the Group.
  • Proactively support the business to ensure that the Life Companies of the Group, their service providers and employees remain cognisant of and compliant with their respective regulatory obligations.
  • Assist in the maintenance of adequate, effective and auditable compliance related Policies, Procedures, reporting mechanisms and training materials.
  • Review and sign off sales literature, marketing materials and communications.
  • Support and assist the wider Group Risk & Compliance Department to deliver and achieve key objectives aligned with departmental and organisational goals.
 
Key Skills and Experience:  
Essential
  • Experience working within a Compliance function, preferably within the insurance industry, and a desire to progress a career in compliance.
  • Experience of compliance monitoring and/or control testing with an ability to demonstrate strong research, investigation, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to bring a new perspective to identifying solutions.
  • Ability to consider and to balance different perspectives and different views and to support business decision-making on an appropriate course of action.
  • Strong investigative skills and attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Have, or have the aptitude, to develop a good understanding and working knowledge of the regulatory regimes applicable to the Group.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written to a wide range of audiences.
  • Ability to understand, assess and effectively communicate the impact of changes and developments in the local and international regulatory environment.
  • Ability to effectively deliver compliance related training to a wide range of employees.
  • Ability to build positive and constructive working relationships with colleagues at all levels across the business and a willingness to share knowledge and expertise in compliance tools and techniques.
  • Ability to work proactively and with enthusiasm for the subject matter in a busy and challenging environment.
  • Competent in Microsoft applications: including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and knowledge of SharePoint.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and objectives of ethics and integrity.
Desirable
  • Relevant Compliance qualification is advantageous.
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge and understanding of risk management, internal control and corporate governance principles and practices.
