Group Compliance Officer

Our client seeks an experienced Group Compliance Officer to join their team and take senior compliance and financial crime accountability across the group's regulated entities.  
   
Subject to regulatory approval, this is a hands-on, senior position with direct ownership of the regulatory relationship with both the UK FCA and the IOM FSA, and a defining role in shaping the group's compliance framework as their  fund platform widens.  
   
Key Responsibilities:  
  • Discharge statutory Compliance Officer role under Part 9 of the IOM Financial Services Rule Book.
  • Maintain compliance monitoring programmes, regulatory returns, and statutory registers.
  • Oversee SMF16 Compliance Oversight function, with ownership of AIFMD, MIFIDPRU, MAR, SYSC, and COBS compliance.
  • Lead FCA supervisory dialogue, regulatory returns and notifications including AIFMD Annex IV reports.
  • Hold MLRO function, managing group sanctions screening and customer due diligence.
  • Run group AML/CFT programmes with particular attention to maritime risk factors.
  • Provide regulatory advice on existing and new fund vehicles across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Embed strong compliance culture across London, Isle of Man, Cyprus and Geneva operations.
  • Report to relevant boards and committees on compliance and financial crime risk matters.
 
Key Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum three years' compliance experience in regulated financial services.
  • Working knowledge of IOM Financial Services Rule Book and AML/CFT Code 2019.
  • Recognised compliance qualification such as ICA Diploma in Compliance or CISI Diploma in Investment Compliance.
  • Strong working knowledge of FCA rules relevant to full-scope AIFMs including AIFMD, MIFIDPRU, MAR, SYSC, COBS.
  • Direct prior experience as MLRO at a corporate service provider or comparable regulated entity would be desirable.
  • maritime, shipping or commodities sector experience would be ideal.
  • Evidence of ability to satisfy FCA fitness and propriety standards for SMF16 approval.
