Exciting Opportunity - Head of Compliance.      
     
Our client is looking for an experienced Head of Compliance who can.      
     
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight.  
  • Act as the Group Head of Compliance and MLRO in accordance with regulatory requirements.  
  • Maintain and oversee the compliance framework across the Group, ensuring ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.  
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and controls to support regulatory compliance and corporate governance obligations.  
  • Lead the design, implementation and delivery of the annual Compliance Monitoring Programme.  
  • Oversee the identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of regulatory and compliance risks.  
  • Ensure the effective operation of systems and controls designed to prevent financial crime, including anti-money laundering, countering the financing of terrorism and sanctions compliance.  
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the Board and senior management on regulatory developments and compliance matters.  
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities and manage regulatory relationships, inspections, enquiries and reporting.
  • Prepare and present compliance, risk and financial crime reports to the Board and relevant governance committees.  
  • Maintain oversight of Data Protection compliance requirements and support the business in fulfilling its obligations under applicable data protection legislation.  
Risk Management and Governance.  
  • Lead the ongoing development and maintenance of the Group Risk Management Framework.  
  • Promote a robust risk and compliance culture throughout the business.  
  • Monitor emerging regulatory developments and assess their impact on the Group.  
  • Oversee the maintenance of risk registers and compliance action plans.  
  • Support the continuous enhancement of governance arrangements and internal controls.  
  • Ensure appropriate management information is produced to support informed decision making.  
Leadership and Management.  
  • Lead and develop the Compliance function.  
  • Provide effective management, support and development for the Compliance Officer.  
  • Promote professional development and knowledge sharing across the business.  
  • Deliver compliance training and awareness initiatives for employees and management.  
  • Act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders on compliance, conduct and regulatory matters.  
 
Key skills and experience.       
Essential.  
  • Relevant compliance, governance, risk management, legal or financial services qualification, or equivalent professional experience.   
  • Minimum five years' experience in a senior compliance leadership role within a regulated financial services environment.  
  • Proven experience acting as MLRO, DMLRO, Compliance Officer or equivalent controlled function.  
  • Strong understanding of Isle of Man regulatory requirements, including AML/CFT obligations and corporate governance expectations.  
  • Experience dealing directly with regulatory authorities and managing regulatory relationships.
  • Proven experience developing and operating compliance monitoring and risk management frameworks.  
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including Board-level reporting.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and challenge constructively where appropriate.  
  • Strong analytical, organisational and decision-making skills.  
  • Commercial awareness and ability to balance regulatory requirements with business objectives.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and manage competing priorities.  
Desirable.
  • CA Diploma, Advanced Certificate or equivalent recognised compliance qualification.  
  • Previous experience as an approved Head of Compliance or MLRO.  
  • Experience within fiduciary, trust and corporate service provider environments.  
  • Data Protection Officer experience or detailed knowledge of data protection legislation.  
  • Experience supporting multiple jurisdictions or international business operations.  
  • Knowledge of FATCA, CRS and sanctions compliance frameworks.  
  • Experience implementing regulatory change programmes and compliance technology  solutions.
