We are working on a newly created specialist technology role offering the opportunity to establish and develop environment management practices within a key delivery function.
Our client is seeking an experienced IT Environment Manager to take ownership of development, test and pre-production environments, ensuring they are effectively managed to support successful software delivery.
This newly created position provides the opportunity to bring structure, governance and best practice to an area that has historically been managed across multiple teams.
Reporting to the Head of IT Delivery, you will work closely with Engineering, Testing, Architecture, DevOps, Infrastructure, Release Management and third-party suppliers to manage environment demand, availability and readiness across the software delivery lifecycle.
The role will combine strategic planning with hands-on delivery, including reviewing the current landscape, defining effective ways of working, improving processes and coordinating the day-to-day management of environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the approach for managing development, test and pre-production environments
- Manage environment demand, scheduling, availability and readiness
- Establish appropriate processes, standards and governance
- Work with technical teams and suppliers to support delivery activity
- Identify opportunities to improve consistency and efficiency
Key Skills & Experience:
- You will have proven experience managing IT environments and understand the needs of development, testing and release teams.
- You may currently be working as an IT Environment Manager or have gained relevant experience through roles such as Senior Test Manager, Infrastructure Manager or Technical Delivery Manager where managing environments has been a core responsibility.
- Experience managing development, test and pre-production environments
- Strong understanding of environment lifecycle management and software delivery practices
- Experience working with Azure or hybrid technology environments
- The ability to collaborate across multiple technical teams and suppliers
