Our client seeks a Junior Credit Underwriter to support their Structured Finance Credit Team by assessing and analysing key financial and credit information and making recommendations for lending within the credit appetite and policy.
 
Working within a supportive team environment, you'll gain exposure to sophisticated credit assessment processes while developing your expertise in this specialist area of finance. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with early credit or financial services experience who is eager to build deep technical underwriting expertise, develop strong analytical skills, and grow within a specialist structured finance environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and analyse new and existing structured finance credit proposals, making recommendations based on financial and non-financial performance.
  • Evaluate customer credit data and financial statements to determine lending risk levels.
  • Analyse audited accounts, management information, forecast cashflow, and budget planners.
  • Complete annual credit reviews of structured finance customers and recommend appropriate covenants and security structures.
  • Monitor portfolio performance trends and escalate early warning indicators in line with policy.
  • Complete quality assurance and sample testing against eligibility underwriting criteria.
  • Assess and approve credit proposals within delegated authority limits.
  • Analyse affordability measures, financial crime risks, and fraudulent applications.
 
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Experience within a similar role in banking or asset finance industries.
  • Ability to analyse credit applications utilising financial statements, cashflow, and credit reference data.
  • Understanding of UK & IOM regulatory requirements relating to credit facility provision.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements, ratios, and lending concepts.  
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence at all levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Professional, detailed, and conscientious approach to work.
  • Knowledge of block discounting, receivables assignment, and structured finance products (desirable but not essential).
