Manager - Portfolio Supervision Division

Our client seeks a Manger to join their portfolio supervision team
Role Profile: Undertake effective and efficient supervision of regulated and registered entities for which the area is responsible, ensuring they meet the requirements set out.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with the other Portfolio Managers on the day-to-day supervision of low impact regulated entities
- Working with the other Managers and divisions as required.
- Undertake on-site and desk-based supervision of low impact regulated entities per the Supervisory Methodology Framework and the aligned thematic supervisory programme of the Portfolio Supervision Division.
- Undertake appropriate preparation in advance of on-site and desk-based thematic inspections and complete work including: the drafting and distribution of thematic questionnaires, preparing scope and planning documents, writing reports, leading the opening and close out meetings with firms, reviewing and monitoring proposed remedial action, and liaising with Enforcement and other divisions where necessary.
- Review technical queries from firms and handle the various regulatory returns, including Annual Regulatory Returns, Statistical Returns and Financial Resource Reports.
- Manage the monitoring, review and analysis of the Division's suite of Business Intelligence Reports (BI reports), to help support the correct supervisory focus for the division, raising
- observations and highlighting trends in data and thresholds with the other Managers and
- Senior Manager as required.
- Drive a consistent risk assessment process of all events and interactions with regulated
- entities and groups.
- Undertake completion of, and contribute to the creation of, the Division's industry outreach
- programme.
- Support the Senior Manager with the development and ongoing review of the overarching
- Sectoral Risk Ratings and Assessments relevant to the Portfolio regulated entities.
- Conduct business meetings with the Portfolio Division's regulated entities as and when
- required
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with relevant industry bodies, government
- agencies and other Competent Authorities.
- Deal with public enquiries (including complaints against regulated entities) in a courteous and constructive manner.
- Ensure breaches, complaints and notifications by regulated entities are logged and dealt with according to the supervisory procedures, reported to the Senior Manager where required, and manage remedial action to address in a timely manner.
- Research and write letters, papers and reports on supervisory matters and contribute to the Portfolio Supervision Division's periodic reports to the Board and the Business Plan.
- Ensure all matters considered material to the discharge of the Division's duties and responsibilities are raised with the Senior Manager in a timely manner.
- Review and contribute to proposed new and changes in existing legislation or supervisory policy.
- Ensure internal systems and procedures are adhered to and report any Operational Risk
- Events in accordance with the Operational Risk Events policy
- Comply with the requirements set out in the Staff Handbook and other operational policy and procedures.
- Work on special ad-hoc projects as identified.
- Set an example to staff to maintain and develop a positive professional culture within the values and behaviours
Key Skills and Experience:
- Hold a relevant professional qualification in Compliance and or Governance related subjects.
- Evidence of Continual Professional Development.
- Extensive relevant industry experience in a compliance, assurance, risk, or audit role.
- A well-developed working knowledge of Financial Services and associated legislation, regulation and guidance.
- Proven ability to build and maintain working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels including the ability to influence and negotiate.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to quickly and accurately assimilate information, to consider any associated risks and to summarise the information effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage a workload of varied complexity, to manage competing priorities and to deliver against deadlines.
- Ability to prepare, lead and conduct meetings with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team.
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office suite.
- Accountancy experience or qualifications
- Strong working knowledge in relation to risk and risk frameworks, including the ability to identify, evaluate, rate, manage and mitigate risks and the ongoing monitoring and review of risks
