Program Manager - Banking
Our client seeks an experienced Program Manager to join their team.
Role Profile: You will orchestrate the execution of the digital banking transformation initiatives alongside the Product Manager. Reporting directly to the Head of Product, you will ensure seamless delivery of complex, cross-functional programs spanning the Web/Mobile, CRM, and Core Banking roadmaps while maintaining operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
You'll thrive in ambiguity, bringing structure, clarity and certainty to fast-moving, dynamic environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Execution & Coordination
- Coordinate and manage the delivery of multiple interconnected technology programs across Web/Mobile, CRM, and Core Banking systems
- Establish and maintain program governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives
- Drive cross-functional collaboration between technology, business, compliance, and operations teams
- Manage program dependencies, risks, and escalations across the digital transformation portfolio
- Monitor program budgets, ensuring financial discipline and appropriate resource allocation
Operational Excellence & Process Management
- Implement and optimise program management methodologies and best practices
- Establish metrics, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to track program health and delivery performance
- Coordinate resource allocation and capacity planning across multiple concurrent initiatives
- Ensure consistent delivery standards and quality gates across all technology programs
- Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement within program processes and workflows.
- Work with technology teams to explore the utilisation of emerging digital tools or methodologies to enhance program delivery
Stakeholder Alignment & Communication
- Facilitate executive steering committees and program review boards
- Provide regular program status updates, risk assessments, and milestone reports to senior leadership
- Coordinate with the Product Manager to ensure business requirements are effectively translated into delivery plans
- Manage stakeholder expectations and communication across all levels of the organisation
- Implement effective change management activities, considering both internal and external stakeholders for each delivered change
- Address and resolve conflicts or competing priorities between teams effectively, ensuring progress remains uninterrupted.
Risk & Compliance Management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate program-level risks and issues
- Ensure all technology initiatives maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls
- Coordinate with Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit teams throughout program lifecycle
- Establish change management protocols to minimise operational disruption during implementations
Key Skills and Experience:
- Proven track record managing technology transformation programs preferably in banking or fintech
- Strong experience coordinating complex, multi-workstream initiatives involving Core Banking, CRM, digital platforms and API-led architectures
- Previous experience managing programs in regulated financial services environments and aligning delivery efforts with compliance requirements
- Experience leading projects in both Agile & Waterfall project management methodologies
- Experience working with Atlassian products, MS Project (or equivalent) & MS0365 product suite is preferred
- Expert knowledge and practical implementation of program management methodologies such as PMI, MSP, SAFe, etc.
- Experience navigating portfolio management tools and techniques
- Strong understanding of SDLC, agile methodologies, and DevOps practices
- Proven ability to manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation across multiple concurrent programs
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills across all organisational levels
- Demonstrable collaboration and empathy in leadership while empowering teams to deliver
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with data-driven decision making
- Proven ability to influence without authority and drive consensus across diverse teams
- Experience managing vendor relationships and third-party delivery partners
- Comprehensive understanding of banking technology architecture, API-first design, and modern technology stacks
- Understanding of regulatory technology requirements (PSD2, Open Banking, etc.) and how these intersect with program delivery
- Knowledge of cybersecurity, data governance, and compliance frameworks in financial services
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with banking or Isle of Man financial services regulations
- Background in corporate banking or B2B financial services program delivery
- Prince 2 or similar project management certification
- PMP, MSP, or similar program management certification
- Experience in digital transformation efforts within API-first banking environments
