Our client seeks a Senior Manager - Life Insurance to join their team.
 
The Role:  In conjunction with the Head of Prudential Supervision lead the supervision of the life insurance sector, encompassing both prudential and conduct supervision. The role also involves external stakeholder engagement, being a strong contributor to the strategic direction of the Authority, and the maintenance and future development of the Island's life insurance regulatory framework in line with international standards
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the life insurance supervision team, ensuring effective resource utilisation and delivery of supervisory objectives
  • Develop, oversee, and deliver comprehensive supervisory plans by insurer and thematic focus areas
  • Foster and maintain productive working relationships with the life insurance industry and key stakeholders
  • Contribute strategically to senior management team decisions and lead critical workstreams and projects
  • Oversee delivery of supervisory methodology including inspections, thematic reviews, and business engagement
  • Review and prepare supervisory risk assessments at firm and sector level
  • Identify emerging risk trends and develop appropriate supervisory themes and responses
  • Manage complex regulatory issues with insurers and guide resolution strategies
  • Oversee assessment of authorisation and registration applications under relevant insurance legislation
  • Ensure appropriate review of statutory returns and regulatory submissions
  • Lead on-site inspections from planning through to report completion
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry, government departments, and international regulators
  • Handle public enquiries and complaints in a professional and efficient manner
  • Prepare and present reports on regulatory matters and emerging issues
  • Develop and maintain robust systems, procedures, and controls for the supervision team
  • Support external assessments and regulatory reviews
  • Champion positive cultural change and performance management across the organisation
 
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
  • Extensive experience in life insurance regulation, supervision, or related financial services areas
  • Proven track record in team leadership and management with demonstrable people development skills
  • Strong understanding of prudential and conduct regulatory frameworks
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management at senior levels
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to contribute strategically to senior management decisions
  • Experience in managing complex regulatory projects and workstreams
  • Knowledge of international regulatory standards and best practices
Desirable
  • Professional qualifications in insurance, finance, or related disciplines
  • Experience working with regulatory authorities or similar organisations
  • Knowledge of risk-based supervisory approaches and methodologies
  • Experience in regulatory policy development and implementation
  • Understanding of international regulatory cooperation and information sharing
