Our client seeks a Structured Finance Credit Underwriter to join their team.
Role Profile: You will support the Structured Finance Credit Team and the wider Credit Team in underwriting by assessing and analysing key financial and credit Information and making recommendations for lending within the Banks credit appetite and policy.
You will assess new and existing UK&IOM Structured Finance Credit proposals and make recommendations based on financial and non-financial performance (including key ratios) Assess and make recommendations on key covenants (concentration, financial & customer loan performance) and security structures whilst working to tight deadlines. Support the wider Credit Team, underwriting commercial (asset backed and unsecured) and personal lending within their delegated authority limit.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate a customer's credit data and financial statements in order to determine the degree of risk involved in lending to them.
- Preparing assessments based upon the credit worthiness and risk of a counterparty
- Evaluating financial status of customers by producing financial ratios
- To analyse audited accounts, management information, forecast cashflow, budget planners and open banking data.
- Assess loan book trends and make recommendations to improve the credit risks to the Bank based on the Bank's appetite and underlying strategy.
- Analyse the recommended financial and non-financial covenants and security structure set for customers and make recommendations based on the banks risk appetite
- To build and maintain flexible working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- To assess and approve credit proposals within your delegated authority and make credit recommendations to the Credit Committee where required.
- Analyse affordability measures, financial crime risks and fraudulent applications
- Provide recommendations tied to analysis and assessment of credit risk.
- Keep up to date with the Groups lending protocols.
- Promote the Groups culture and values.
- Understand and comply with internal policies to all Credit related policies & criteria.
- To adhere to service levels.
Key Skills & Experience
- Experience in sanctioning credit facilities within banking or asset finance industries.
- Ability to undertake analysis of credit applications utilising financial statements, cashflow, credit reference agency searches, searches of company registries etc.
- Understand the relevant UK & IOM Regulatory requirements relating to the provision of credit facilities in these jurisdictions
- Experience working in a credit role within the financial services industry.
- Understand the relevant UK Regulatory requirements relating to the provision of credit facilities in these jurisdictions including KYC processes.
- Understanding of financial statements, ratios, and concepts of lending.
- Understanding of the relevant Regulatory requirements relating to the provision of credit facilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as this role will involve influencing at all levels.
- Good verbal and numerical skills
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Numerate and proficient in MS Office.
- Work produced to high standards
- Professional detailed conscientious approach to work
- Knowledge of Block Discounting, purchase/assignment of receivables and wider Structured Finance products would be useful.
