Our client seeks an Accounts Manager to join their team.
Role Profile:
The role provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to the growth of the company and its next phase of development. Working alongside the Tax & Compliance Manager whilst managing a small team of accounts administrators, book-keepers and trainee accountants, who are responsible for preparing accounts and financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, and companies.
Varied workload (summarised below) which includes personal and company tax, audit, VAT, payroll and compliance services to a wide breadth of clients, predominantly local but also based in the UK and overseas:
Key Responsibilities:
- Management and support of a small team, ensuring accurate and timely completion of accounting task and financial reporting
- Manage month-end and year-end processes ensuring they comply with deadlines an accounting standards
- Reviewing accounts, tax returns, VAT returns
- Providing in-house technical training/mentoring of other team members
- Preparing and filing statutory accounts
- Client management and advisory (regular updates/meetings to maintain strong relationships)
- Preparing and filing of personal and corporate tax returns including computations and schedules
- Assisting with the preparation and filing of quarterly VAT returns
- Contribution to strategic growth of the business including business development, systems development to identify and create efficiencies
- On-boarding of new clients
- Preparing and filing other statutory forms and returns
- Providing audit support
- Undertaking compliance checks and maintenance of client records
- Stay updated on relevant accounting regulations and best practices
- Payroll support
Key Skills and Experience:
- ACCA/ACA qualified
- IT skills (accounting software, Excel, Word etc.)
- Office and staff management experience
- Ability to lead, motivate, develop and mentor staff
- Confident with clients and other stakeholders
- Excellent organisational, problem solving and communication skills
- Ability to ensure the smooth and timely turnaround of accounts, financial statements, VAT returns, tax returns, payrolls and other statutory forms etc.
- Must be able to demonstrate a strong work ethic, have excellent organisational skills, and be familiar with the company's regulatory requirements as an ACCA accountancy practice.
- A proven track record of working within an accounting environment managing a portfolio of clients, be comfortable using accounting packages (VT, Sage, QuickBooks etc.), as well as having strong Microsoft Excel and other IT skills.
