Our client seeks an Assistant Manager - Life Insurance to join their team.
 
Role Profile:  To ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the supervisory plan and methodology as it applies to the Life Insurance sector. To be an effective team member of the Life team, supporting the Senior Manager and Managers in their supervisory responsibilities, and engaging in necessary tasks to support effective and responsive engagement with the Authorised Insurers and other relevant parties to ensure all requirements of the legislation are fulfilled.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the delivery of the supervisory methodology as it applies to the Life industry, including working with the Senior Manager and Managers in the co-ordination of the supervisory plan, scheduling of activities and monitoring of key deliverables to assist the Managers in their supervisory engagement.  
  • Assisting in evaluating proposals for new licences and changes to existing licences.
  • Assist in the delivery of day to day supervisory activities, including the prioritisation of activities, diary management, record management and reporting.  
  • Assist in reviewing, documenting and evaluating regulatory returns, developing an understanding of risk as it applies to Authorised Insurers and their underlying business profiles.
  • Assist in the planning, organising and conducting of on-site inspections on relevant themes as determined within the supervisory plan.
  • Assist in the ongoing development of regulatory systems and controls, to support continuous improvement in the delivery of the Authority's objectives.
  • Where required, to support work on special ad-hoc projects when identified.
  • Build and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with Authorised Insurers, related parties and other regulatory agencies, industry bodies and government agencies, as applicable.
  • Deal with public enquiries (including complaints against regulated entities) in a courteous and constructive manner and in accordance with noted procedures.  
  • Comply with the requirements set out in the Staff Handbook and all other operational policy and procedures issued by the Authority.  
    • Have a positive attitude to learning and continuous professional development.  
    • Maintain and develop a positive professional culture in line with the expectations of the Authority.  
 
Key Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Hold, or be working towards a relevant professional qualification. Desirable.  
  • Evidence of continuing professional development. Essential.  
  • Relevant industry experience in an operational, compliance, insurance, risk or audit/  accounting role.  
  • An awareness of Life Insurance, and associated legislation and guidance including trends and
  • developments.   Essential.  
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to quickly and accurately assimilate information, to consider
  • any associated risks and to summarise the information effectively.  Essential.  
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage a workload of varied complexity, to manage   competing priorities and to deliver against deadlines.  Essential.  
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.  Essential.   
  • Ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team. Essential.  
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with stakeholders at all levels including the ability to contribute to the subject. Essential.  
  • Ability to assist in preparing and conducting meetings with stakeholders at all levels both
internally and externally. Essential.  
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Essential.  
  • Good understanding in relation to risk and risk frameworks including evaluating risks. Desirable.
