About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Civil Engineer to join a well-respected local construction company. You will play a key role in delivering infrastructure and building projects across the Isle of Man. This position offers the chance to work on a variety of projects-from foundations and drainage to full structural builds-where your expertise will help shape lasting developments for the island.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and oversee civil engineering aspects of construction projects (roads, drainage, foundations, retaining walls, structural elements).
- Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with engineering specifications.
- Provide technical guidance and problem-solving when unexpected ground or site conditions arise.
- Prepare, review, and modify technical drawings and calculations.
- Liaise with contractors, planners, architects, surveyors, and local authorities.
- Ensure compliance with building regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and quality assurance.
- Produce clear technical reports, risk assessments, and documentation.
Skills & Experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
- Chartered or working towards chartered status (ICE or equivalent) is desirable.
- Proven experience in civil engineering, ideally with exposure to construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of local building regulations, planning, and health & safety requirements.
- Proficient in engineering software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively with contractors and stakeholders.
