Our client seeks a Data Analyst to joint their team on a temporary 6-month contract
 
Role Profile:  Responsible for delivering accurate management information, performance reporting and business insights that support operational, commercial and strategic decision-making across the Bank. The role focuses on analysing business and operational data, identifying trends, monitoring performance, producing reporting and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with business stakeholders to understand information requirements and translate data into meaningful insights and recommendations.  This is a business-facing analytical role. It is not responsible for data architecture, database design, data engineering or enterprise data strategy.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and maintain regular management information and performance reporting.
  • Produce dashboards, scorecards and KPI reporting for operational, executive and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Develop reporting that supports service delivery, customer outcomes, operational efficiency and business performance.
  • Support the automation and enhancement of reporting processes.
  • Maintain reporting documentation and data definitions.
  • Gather, analyse and interpret data from multiple business systems and data sources.
  • Identify trends, patterns, risks and opportunities through data analysis.
  • Perform root cause analysis to support business problem solving and decision-making.
  • Produce clear recommendations based on evidence and analysis.
  • Support business cases, projects and change initiatives through data-driven insight.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators and operational metrics.
  • Monitor business performance against targets and agreed service levels.
  • Identify emerging performance issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide regular performance updates and analysis to management teams.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation and quality checks.
  • Identify data quality issues and support remediation activities.
  • Promote consistent reporting standards and data accuracy across the organisation.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand reporting and analytical requirements.
  • Translate business questions into reporting and analytical outputs.
  • Present findings and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
  • Build effective working relationships across Operations, Risk, Finance, Compliance and Technology teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, analytics and business performance.
  • Support the development of self-service reporting and dashboard capabilities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through analysis and measurement of outcomes.
 
Key Skills & Experience
  • Degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Business or a related discipline.
  • Relevant professional qualifications in analytics or business intelligence are advantageous.
  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst, MI Analyst, Reporting Analyst or Business Intelligence Analyst.
  • Experience producing management information, dashboards and KPI reporting.
  • Experience analysing business performance and presenting findings to stakeholders.
  • Experience working within financial services or another regulated environment is desirable.
  • Experience supporting operational improvement through data analysis.
Essential
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction and analysis.
  • Experience using Power BI or equivalent reporting and visualisation tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to communicate complex information to non-technical audiences.
Desirable
  • Experience using Python or similar analytical tools.
  • Understanding of banking products, operational processes and performance metrics.
