Our client is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Data Protection / Information Officer to join their team.
 
Your mission will be to champion best practices in data protection and drive meaningful change across the organisation through staff training and working closely with senior leadership and external bodies.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • The development of information and document management systems to promote efficiency and electronic governance of all information
  • To inform and advise on obligations in relation to processing including subject rights, records of processing activities, security of processing and notification and communication of breaches
  • Compliance with the requirements of General Data Protection Regulations and Freedom of Information legislation, with active participation in various policy councils/committees
  • Raising awareness and engendering compliance through cultural change, and staff training
  • Assistance with coordination of Freedom of Information, Access to Government Information and Data Access requests
  • Management of the relationship with the Public Records Office (PRO), and file submission and retrieval from the PRO including the development of future methodologies for archiving
  • Cooperation with the Supervisory Authority
  • Occasional briefings to the Executive Team and Board
  • The achievement of agreed objectives effectively within specified timescales
 
Key Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE's at Grade C or above (one of which must be English language) or hold recognised equivalent qualifications
  • A basic understanding of the statutory requirements of records management and data protection in the Isle of Man
  • Clerical/administrative experience
  • Evidence of electronic and paper records management
    • Experience of dealing with the public face to face, over the phone, and via written correspondence
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Able to use initiative, manage time and organise and prioritise workloads
    • Ability to regularly deal with and protect confidential records with the utmost integrity
    • Being a team player, working collaboratively and sharing knowledge to deliver results
    • Experience of delivering an excellent service to internal and external customers, whilst proactively seeking ways to maintain and improve high standards of service
