Our client seeks a Financial Crime Prevention Specialist to join their team.
 
The role is to include R16 (DMLRO) Controlled Function responsibilities. You will play a key role in protecting the Group from financial crime, regulatory sanction, and reputational harm. You will influence decisionmaking at all levels, ensuring compliance with AML/CFT legislation, and supporting the Money Laundering Reporting Officer and Chief Compliance Officer in safeguarding the integrity of our risk and governance environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Act (or demonstrate readiness to act) as an Approved Person undertaking the R16 DMLRO Controlled Function, including decisions on disclosures and liaison with financial crime agencies.
  • Lead the submission of Suspicious Activity Reports and oversee any resulting law enforcement orders.
  • Maintain and enhance the Group's financial crime risk management framework, ensuring proportionate, commercially attuned controls across all jurisdictions.
  • Interpret legislation and regulatory change, ensuring timely implementation of AML/CFT, sanctions, fraud and related obligations.
  • Develop and embed AML/CFT policies, procedures and risk-based monitoring proportionate to the Group's scale and complexity.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for regulatory consultations, Compliance Assurance Reviews, and key strategic projects.
  • Support due diligence for business integrations and major initiatives.
  • Produce internal AML/CFT reporting and contribute to the annual Group AML/CFT Board Report.
  • Build strong working relationships with regulators, law enforcement, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
 
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Deep knowledge of AML/CFT and financial crime legislation, including the duties of a DMLRO in the Isle of Man and other jurisdictions.
  • Significant experience (2 - 5+ years) in a senior financial crime prevention role, ideally already approved for the R16 controlled function.
  • Professional qualifications (e.g., ICA Diploma) or commitment to achieving within 18 months.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory risk across technical and operational domains.  
  • Experience working in multi-jurisdictional financial services environments, ideally life and investments.  
  • Proven ability to deliver credible subject matter expertise, manage change, and support continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills-able to challenge constructively, advise with commercial insight, and build trust at all levels.  
  • Strategic problem-solving ability, strong organisational skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates independence, integrity, and sound professional judgement.
