HR Specialist

Our client seeks a HR Specialist to join their team for a Fixed Term Contract to cover maternity leave from April 2026 (14 months).
This role will support the Head of HR with the full range of HR activities, including Talent Management, Employee Relations and Reward and Compensation. The ideal candidate will not only be experienced in HR but also passionate about supporting innovative and strategic people change initiatives within the Company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for running and supporting accurate day-to-day HR administration activity (working closely with the HR Administrator) including, but not limited to, recruitment and onboarding, compensation and benefits (including payroll), and people change.
- The HR specialist will be expected to identify and initiate innovative opportunities for the streamlining of processes to ensure the department remains current and agile.
- Proactively support the Head of HR with Talent Management activity across the group, including recruitment and selection, employee onboarding and retention activity, as well as learning & development design and delivery.
- Act as a trusted, solutions focused, advisor through strong Employee Relations and engagement activity with both employees and management; addressing performance and capability concerns, resolving conflicts with a considered and fair approach.
- Enhance the HR offering through the comfortable use of HR analytics and technology to aid forward thinking and informative decision making.
- Provide support to the Head of HR in advancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging initiatives by promoting fair and inclusive practices across all people-related activities within the organisation.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Experienced in HR and payroll administration with excellent attention to detail.
- A minimum of CIPD level 5 (or qualified through experience).
- Effective communicator, with experience in supporting people managers with standard and non-standard employee relations queries.
- Experience in IOM and UK employment legislation (knowledge of Guernsey employment legislation desirable).
- Experience with coaching practices.
- Self-driven, proactive, and dedicated to excellent stakeholder service, with a passion for people.
- An innovative thinker, comfortable with change and a track record of bringing ideas to life.
- Able to take accountability and responsibility for own personal development.
- A high level of integrity, experienced in dealing with confidential matters, and having the ability to recognise when situations are to be escalated to the Head of HR.
- Proficient in HRIS systems, and Microsoft Office tools (experience with HiBob is desirable).
- Training design and delivery experience is desirable.
