Our client seeks a Lead HR Consultant to join their team.
 
Role Profile:  As a Lead HR Consultant you will provide expert HR advice and support to clients across the Isle of Man, UK, and internationally.
You'll lead the delivery of outsourced HR services, managing both client relationships and a small internal team. You'll handle everything from contracts and policies to disciplinaries and recruitment, ensuring clients remain compliant and well-supported.
This is a senior role combining strategic input with hands-on delivery. You'll line manage HR Officers and Payroll Administrators, setting high standards and helping to develop team capability.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the onboarding of new clients for HR and payroll services
  • Provide day-to-day HR advice by phone, video or in person
  • Draft and update employment contracts
  • Write and revise staff handbooks and policies
  • Conduct regular HR audits
  • Support clients with performance reviews, appraisals and capability issues
  • Manage disciplinaries, grievances, redundancies and tribunal preparation
  • Prepare job descriptions and person specifications
  • Manage relationships with recruitment agencies
  • Screen CVs and manage psychometric testing
  • Coach clients on interview technique and attend interviews where needed
  • Support employee benefits scheme administration
  • Oversee HR admin: holidays, absences, family leave, leavers etc.
  • Administer client payrolls and pension schemes
  • Line manage HR Officers and Payroll Administrators, including regular 1:1s, performance reviews and professional development
  • Represent the business on webinars and at events
  • Take on other HR and payroll duties, as needed
 
Key Skills and Experience:
  • CIPD Level 5 (or above)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a generalist HR role
  • Strong working knowledge of UK and/or Isle of Man employment law
  • Able to manage employee relations cases from start to finish, including disciplinaries, grievances and performance issues, ensuring compliance and best practice throughout
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Calm, professional and supportive approach
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple client accounts
  • Strategic thinker with a practical, solutions-driven mindset
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members
Desirable Requirements
  • CIPD Level 7
  • Experience delivering outsourced HR consultancy
  • Line management experience
  • Payroll administration knowledge
