Part-Time Centre Manager
THE ROLE This is an exciting opportunity to take the helm of a community-facing charity and make a visible, lasting difference to the lives of islanders. As Centre Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth, effective, and efficient running of the organisation from day-to-day operations and team supervision, to fundraising, grant applications, public engagement, and board support. You'll be the face of the organisation for service users, volunteers, partner charities, and the wider public, bringing together strong administrative capability with real warmth and empathy. This is a varied, hands-on leadership role that demands initiative, adaptability, and a genuine passion for community service.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Responsible for the smooth, effective and efficient running of CIRCA, including ensuring administrative tasks are undertaken as required and overseeing maintenance of the CIRCA office / shop.
- Responsible for the maintenance of an up to date and accurate shop / office diary. This will include equipment bookings, appointments, board room bookings and key tasks.
- Responsible for the supervision / management of CIRCA staff [currently one part-time assistant and a part-time maintenance engineer].
- Responsible for ensuring CIRCA's Shopmobility equipment is always in a clean state and in good working order - this will be undertaken in conjunction with the assistant and the maintenance engineers.
- Responsible for ensuring Shopmobility Service Users receive the necessary training required.
- Responsible for ensuring CIRCA's website, as well as CIRCA's social media presence, is maintained and kept up-to-date and liaising with the Disability Networks website coordinator.
- Responsible for organising CIRCA's Management Committee / Board meetings and AGM and circulating papers as required, as well as attendance at such meetings and production of Centre Update reports.
- Responsible for supporting the Chair and Management Committee / Board as required.
- Responsible for making smaller grant applications and providing assistance to the Treasurer in respect of larger grant applications.
Key Skills and Experience
- Experience of working in the Isle of Man 3rd sector will be of advantage.
- Basic knowledge of Isle of Man charities regulations.
- Comfortable dealing with people and specifically disabled customers.
- Demonstrates empathy.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Able to deal with awkward situations.
- Comfortable presenting to groups of people and is competent in preparing for such presentations.
- Organised and able to prioritise tasks & to multi-task.
- Ability to use basic Excel spreadsheets and other applications, including ideally social media.
- Competent and organised in undertaking administrative tasks with attention to detail as required.
- Demonstrates good supervisory skills.
- Ability to work alone and / or in a small team.
- Demonstrates good initiative and ability to solve problems.
- Ability to work flexibly - this will be required for Management Committee / Board meetings and occasionally at weekends.
- Has use of own vehicle, which will require business use insurance cover.
- Monday-Friday 10.00-4.00 each day with a half-hour lunch break.
