Our client looks for a Contract Senior Accountant to assist their team.  
Role Profile:  The role of the senior accountant covers the more complex account management for clients. Acting as a mentor for junior members of the team, in addition to covering various tasks of the Accounts Manager in their absence. It also covers the representation of the department in any requested projects.  
Key Responsibilities:
Operations
  • Responsible for the more complex clients, including but not limited to, payment authorisations, preparation of financial statements, fund requests, management accounts, VAT and tax returns as well as external audit visits.
  • Reviewing of financial information prepared by the accountants.
  • Ad-hoc projects as requested by the manager including preparation of FACTA / CRS return and submission to the tax office.
  • Attendance at the New Business Committee in the absence of the Manager, as requested.
People Support
  • Mentor and train the accountants and accounts assistant, helping them to learn day to day tasks, as well as helping nurture their personal growth in the workplace. Ensure positive values are displayed, supporting the manager to maintain a healthy team built on trust, communication, and proactivity.
  • Cover for the manager as required with development check-ins with the team.
  • Assist the manager by identifying any training and development needs of your mentees and supporting
Strategic Input
  • Participate in any project involvement requested of you, ensuring the remit of the team is fully represented.
Communication
  • Engage in effective communication within the team, other departments, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Alert the manager to any issues or conflicts that you may see arise within the team to enable them to address in a timely manner.
  • Proactively identify to any changes/opportunities which would benefit the team and help improve the services provided.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
  • Ensure compliance with all industry regulations and company policies.
  • Follow any quality assurance processes to uphold service standards.
 
Key Skills and Experience:  
  • Holding a relevant qualification (e.g., ACA/ACCA) with at least 3 years relevant experience, including working at a senior level
  • Developing leadership skills, including inspiring and motivating others. Always leading by example and demonstrating integrity.
  • Communicating clearly, respectfully, and actively listening to others. Always ensuring communications are open and transparent.
  • Analyses information and evaluates all options before making timely and informed decisions within the scope of the role. Referring more senior decisions to the manager, Financial Controller or Directors.
  • Demonstrating the ability to balance risk and opportunity, within the scope of the role.
  • Ability to identify issues and understand the root causes. Thinking creatively and innovatively, taking positive action to deliver effective solutions, whilst helping junior members of the team learn in the process.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, building and maintaining positive relationships with all stakeholders.  Demonstrating emotional intelligence in all interactions.
  • Working as a mentor to team members who are learning in their role.  Building trust with their colleagues and providing support where required.
